We want to have a tighter control on what ports we bind to in
the BPF_CGROUP_INET{4,6}_CONNECT hooks even if it means
connect() becomes slightly more expensive. The expensive part
comes from the fact that we now need to call inet_csk_get_port()
that verifies that the port is not used and allocates an entry
in the hash table for it.
Since we can't rely on "snum || !bind_address_no_port" to prevent
us from calling POST_BIND hook anymore, let's add another bind flag
to indicate that the call site is BPF program.

Adds support for both bpf_{sk, inode}_storage_{get, delete} to be used
in LSM programs. These helpers are not used for tracing programs
(currently) as their usage is tied to the life-cycle of the object and
should only be used where the owning object won't be freed (when the
owning object is passed as an argument to the LSM hook). Thus, they
are safer to use in LSM hooks than tracing. Usage of local storage in
tracing programs will probably follow a per function based whitelist
approach.
Since the UAPI helper signature for bpf_sk_storage expect a bpf_sock,
it, leads to a compilation warning for LSM programs, it's also updated
to accept a void * pointer instead.

Refactor the functionality in bpf_sk_storage.c so that concept of
storage linked to kernel objects can be extended to other objects like
inode, task_struct etc.
Each new local storage will still be a separate map and provide its own
set of helpers. This allows for future object specific extensions and
still share a lot of the underlying implementation.
This includes the changes suggested by Martin in:

This patch adds INET_DIAG support to bpf_sk_storage.
1. Although this series adds bpf_sk_storage diag capability to inet sk,
bpf_sk_storage is in general applicable to all fullsock. Hence, the
bpf_sk_storage logic will operate on SK_DIAG_* nlattr. The caller
will pass in its specific nesting nlattr (e.g. INET_DIAG_*) as
the argument.

4. Unlike other INET_DIAG info of a sk which is pretty static, the size
required to dump the bpf_sk_storage(s) of a sk is dynamic as the
system adding more bpf_sk_storage_map. It is hard to set a static
min_dump_alloc size.
Hence, this series learns it at the runtime and adjust the
cb->min_dump_alloc as it iterates all sk(s) of a system. The
"unsigned int *res_diag_size" in bpf_sk_storage_diag_put()
is for this purpose.
The next patch will update the cb->min_dump_alloc as it
iterates the sk(s).

Similar to tcp_iter_state, a new field bpf_seq_afinfo is
added to udp_iter_state to provide bpf udp iterator
afinfo.
This does not change /proc/net/{udp, udp6} behavior. But
it enables bpf iterator to avoid get afinfo from PDE_DATA
and iterate through all udp and udp6 sockets in one pass.

A new field bpf_seq_afinfo is added to tcp_iter_state
to provide bpf tcp iterator afinfo. There are two
reasons on why we did this.
First, the current way to get afinfo from PDE_DATA
does not work for bpf iterator as its seq_file
inode does not conform to /proc/net/{tcp,tcp6}
inode structures. More specifically, anonymous
bpf iterator will use an anonymous inode which
is shared in the system and we cannot change inode
private data structure at all.
Second, bpf iterator for tcp/tcp6 wants to
traverse all tcp and tcp6 sockets in one pass
and bpf program can control whether they want
to skip one sk_family or not. Having a different
afinfo with family AF_UNSPEC make it easier
to understand in the code.
This patch does not change /proc/net/{tcp,tcp6} behavior
as the bpf_seq_afinfo will be NULL for these two proc files.

Commit b121b341e598 ("bpf: Add PTR_TO_BTF_ID_OR_NULL
support") adds a field btf_id_or_null_non0_off to
bpf_prog->aux structure to indicate that the
first ctx argument is PTR_TO_BTF_ID reg_type and
all others are PTR_TO_BTF_ID_OR_NULL.
This approach does not really scale if we have
other different reg types in the future, e.g.,
a pointer to a buffer.
This patch enables bpf_iter targets registering ctx argument
reg types which may be different from the default one.
For example, for pointers to structures, the default reg_type
is PTR_TO_BTF_ID for tracing program. The target can register
a particular pointer type as PTR_TO_BTF_ID_OR_NULL which can
be used by the verifier to enforce accesses.

Avoid taking a reference on listen sockets by checking the socket type
in the sk_assign and in the corresponding skb_steal_sock() code in the
the transport layer, and by ensuring that the prefetch free (sock_pfree)
function uses the same logic to check whether the socket is refcounted.

Add support for TPROXY via a new bpf helper, bpf_sk_assign().
This helper requires the BPF program to discover the socket via a call
to bpf_sk*_lookup_*(), then pass this socket to the new helper. The
helper takes its own reference to the socket in addition to any existing
reference that may or may not currently be obtained for the duration of
BPF processing. For the destination socket to receive the traffic, the
traffic must be routed towards that socket via local route. The
simplest example route is below, but in practice you may want to route
traffic more narrowly (eg by CIDR):
$ ip route add local default dev lo
This patch avoids trying to introduce an extra bit into the skb->sk, as
that would require more invasive changes to all code interacting with
the socket to ensure that the bit is handled correctly, such as all
error-handling cases along the path from the helper in BPF through to
the orphan path in the input. Instead, we opt to use the destructor
variable to switch on the prefetch of the socket.

To support multi-prog link-based attachments for new netns attach types, we
need to keep track of more than one bpf_link per attach type. Hence,
convert net->bpf.links into a list, that currently can be either empty or
have just one item.
Instead of reusing bpf_prog_list from bpf-cgroup, we link together
bpf_netns_link's themselves. This makes list management simpler as we don't
have to allocate, initialize, and later release list elements. We can do
this because multi-prog attachment will be available only for bpf_link, and
we don't need to build a list of programs attached directly and indirectly
via links.
No functional changes intended.

Prepare for having multi-prog attachments for new netns attach types by
storing programs to run in a bpf_prog_array, which is well suited for
iterating over programs and running them in sequence.
After this change bpf(PROG_QUERY) may block to allocate memory in
bpf_prog_array_copy_to_user() for collected program IDs. This forces a
change in how we protect access to the attached program in the query
callback. Because bpf_prog_array_copy_to_user() can sleep, we switch from
an RCU read lock to holding a mutex that serializes updaters.
Because we allow only one BPF flow_dissector program to be attached to
netns at all times, the bpf_prog_array pointed by net->bpf.run_array is
always either detached (null) or one element long.
No functional changes intended.

Managing bpf_prog_array is more involved than updating a single bpf_prog

Extend bpf() syscall subcommands that operate on bpf_link, that is
LINK_CREATE, LINK_UPDATE, OBJ_GET_INFO, to accept attach types tied to
network namespaces (only flow dissector at the moment).
Link-based and prog-based attachment can be used interchangeably, but only
one can exist at a time. Attempts to attach a link when a prog is already
attached directly, and the other way around, will be met with -EEXIST.
Attempts to detach a program when link exists result in -EINVAL.
Attachment of multiple links of same attach type to one netns is not
supported with the intention to lift the restriction when a use-case
presents itself. Because of that link create returns -E2BIG when trying to
create another netns link, when one already exists.
Link-based attachments to netns don't keep a netns alive by holding a ref
to it. Instead links get auto-detached from netns when the latter is being
destroyed, using a pernet pre_exit callback.
When auto-detached, link lives in defunct state as long there are open FDs
for it. -ENOLINK is returned if a user tries to update a defunct link.
Because bpf_link to netns doesn't hold a ref to struct net, special care is
taken when releasing, updating, or filling link info. The netns might be
getting torn down when any of these link operations are in progress. That
is why auto-detach and update/release/fill_info are synchronized by the
same mutex. Also, link ops have to always check if auto-detach has not
happened yet and if netns is still alive (refcnt > 0).

The set of functions will grow with the addition of bpf_link support for

In order to:
(1) attach more than one BPF program type to netns, or
(2) support attaching BPF programs to netns with bpf_link, or
(3) support multi-prog attach points for netns
we will need to keep more state per netns than a single pointer like we
have now for BPF flow dissector program.
Prepare for the above by extracting netns_bpf that is part of struct net,
for storing all state related to BPF programs attached to netns.
Turn flow dissector callbacks for querying/attaching/detaching a program
into generic ones that operate on netns_bpf. Next patch will move the
generic callbacks into their own module.
This is similar to how it is organized for cgroup with cgroup_bpf.

The init, close and unhash handlers from TCP sockmap are generic,
and can be reused by UDP sockmap. Move the helpers into the sockmap code
base and expose them. This requires tcp_bpf_get_proto and tcp_bpf_clone to
be conditional on BPF_STREAM_PARSER.
The moved functions are unmodified, except that sk_psock_unlink is
renamed to sock_map_unlink to better match its behaviour.

We need to ensure that sk->sk_prot uses certain callbacks, so that
code that directly calls e.g. tcp_sendmsg in certain corner cases
works. To avoid spurious asserts, we must to do this only if
sk_psock_update_proto has not yet been called. The same invariants
apply for tcp_bpf_check_v6_needs_rebuild, so move the call as well.
Doing so allows us to merge tcp_bpf_init and tcp_bpf_reinit.

The sock map code checks that a socket does not have an active upper
layer protocol before inserting it into the map. This requires casting
via inet_csk, which isn't valid for UDP sockets.
Guard checks for ULP by checking inet_sk(sk)->is_icsk first.

Commit 736b46027eb4 ("net: Add ID (if needed) to sock_reuseport and expose
reuseport_lock") has introduced lazy generation of reuseport group IDs that
survive group resize.
By comparing the identifier we check if BPF reuseport program is not trying
to select a socket from a BPF map that belongs to a different reuseport
group than the one the packet is for.
Because SOCKARRAY used to be the only BPF map type that can be used with
reuseport BPF, it was possible to delay the generation of reuseport group
ID until a socket from the group was inserted into BPF map for the first
time.
Now that SOCK{MAP,HASH} can be used with reuseport BPF we have two options,
either generate the reuseport ID on map update, like SOCKARRAY does, or
allocate an ID from the start when reuseport group gets created.
This patch takes the latter approach to keep sockmap free of calls into
reuseport code. This streamlines the reuseport_id access as its lifetime
now matches the longevity of reuseport object.
The cost of this simplification, however, is that we allocate reuseport IDs
for all SO_REUSEPORT users. Even those that don't use SOCKARRAY in their
setups. With the way identifiers are currently generated, we can have at
most S32_MAX reuseport groups, which hopefully is sufficient. If we ever
get close to the limit, we can switch an u64 counter like sk_cookie.
Another change is that we now always call into SOCKARRAY logic to unlink
the socket from the map when unhashing or closing the socket. Previously we
did it only when at least one socket from the group was in a BPF map.
It is worth noting that this doesn't conflict with sockmap tear-down in
case a socket is in a SOCK{MAP,HASH} and belongs to a reuseport
group. sockmap tear-down happens first:

Prepare for cloning listening sockets that have their protocol callbacks
overridden by sk_msg. Child sockets must not inherit parent callbacks that
access state stored in sk_user_data owned by the parent.
Restore the child socket protocol callbacks before it gets hashed and any
of the callbacks can get invoked.

sk_user_data can hold a pointer to an object that is not intended to be
shared between the parent socket and the child that gets a pointer copy on
clone. This is the case when sk_user_data points at reference-counted
object, like struct sk_psock.
One way to resolve it is to tag the pointer with a no-copy flag by
repurposing its lowest bit. Based on the bit-flag value we clear the child
sk_user_data pointer after cloning the parent socket.
The no-copy flag is stored in the pointer itself as opposed to externally,
say in socket flags, to guarantee that the pointer and the flag are copied
from parent to child socket in an atomic fashion. Parent socket state is
subject to change while copying, we don't hold any locks at that time.
This approach relies on an assumption that sk_user_data holds a pointer to
an object aligned at least 2 bytes. A manual audit of existing users of
rcu_dereference_sk_user_data helper confirms our assumption.
Also, an RCU-protected sk_user_data is not likely to hold a pointer to a
char value or a pathological case of "struct { char c; }". To be safe, warn
when the flag-bit is set when setting sk_user_data to catch any future
misuses.
It is worth considering why clearing sk_user_data unconditionally is not an
option. There exist users, DRBD, NVMe, and Xen drivers being among them,
that rely on the pointer being copied when cloning the listening socket.
Potentially we could distinguish these users by checking if the listening
socket has been created in kernel-space via sock_create_kern, and hence has
sk_kern_sock flag set. However, this is not the case for NVMe and Xen
drivers, which create sockets without marking them as belonging to the
kernel.

This patch makes "struct tcp_congestion_ops" to be the first user
of BPF STRUCT_OPS. It allows implementing a tcp_congestion_ops
in bpf.
The BPF implemented tcp_congestion_ops can be used like
regular kernel tcp-cc through sysctl and setsockopt. e.g.

There has been attempt to move the TCP CC to the user space
(e.g. CCP in TCP). The common arguments are faster turn around,
get away from long-tail kernel versions in production...etc,
which are legit points.
BPF has been the continuous effort to join both kernel and
userspace upsides together (e.g. XDP to gain the performance
advantage without bypassing the kernel). The recent BPF
advancements (in particular BTF-aware verifier, BPF trampoline,
BPF CO-RE...) made implementing kernel struct ops (e.g. tcp cc)
possible in BPF. It allows a faster turnaround for testing algorithm
in the production while leveraging the existing (and continue growing)
BPF feature/framework instead of building one specifically for
userspace TCP CC.
This patch allows write access to a few fields in tcp-sock
(in bpf_tcp_ca_btf_struct_access()).
The optional "get_info" is unsupported now. It can be added
later. One possible way is to output the info with a btf-id
to describe the content.

In order to get the reasons of skb drops, add a function argument of
type 'enum skb_drop_reason *reason' to tcp_timewait_state_process().
In the origin code, all packets to time-wait socket are treated as
dropping with kfree_skb(), which can make users confused. Therefore,
we use consume_skb() for the skbs that are 'good'. We can check the
value of 'reason' to decide use kfree_skb() or consume_skb().
The new reason 'TIMEWAIT' is added for the case that the skb is dropped
as the socket in time-wait state.

In order to get skb drop reasons during tcp connect requesting code path,
we have to pass the pointer of the 'reason' as a new function argument of
conn_request() in 'struct inet_connection_sock_af_ops'. As the return
value of conn_request() can be positive or negative or 0, it's not
flexible to make it return drop reasons.
As the return value of tcp_conn_request() is 0, so we can treat it as bool
and make it return the skb drop reasons.
The new drop reasons 'LISTENOVERFLOWS' and 'TCP_REQQFULLDROP' are added,
which are used for 'accept queue' and 'request queue' full.

The return value of tcp_rcv_synsent_state_process() can be -1, 0 or 1:
- -1: free skb silently
- 0: success and skb is already freed
- 1: drop packet and send a RST
Therefore, we can make it return skb drop reasons instead of '1' on
'reset_and_undo' path, which will not impact the caller.
The new reason 'TCP_PAWSACTIVEREJECTED' is added, which is corresponding
to LINUX_MIB_PAWSACTIVEREJECTED.

the new drop reason 'SKB_DROP_REASON_SOCKET_DESTROIED' and apply it to
inet_csk_destroy_sock() to stop confusing users with 'NOT_SPECIFIED'.

It is annoying to add new skb drop reasons to 'enum skb_drop_reason'
and TRACE_SKB_DROP_REASON in trace/event/skb.h, and it's easy to forget
to add the new reasons we added to TRACE_SKB_DROP_REASON.
TRACE_SKB_DROP_REASON is used to convert drop reason of type number
to string. For now, the string we passed to user space is exactly the
same as the name in 'enum skb_drop_reason' with a 'SKB_DROP_REASON_'
prefix. Therefore, we can use 'auto-generation' to generate these
drop reasons to string at build time.
The new source 'dropreason_str.c' will be auto generated during build
time, which contains the string array
'const char * const drop_reasons[]'.

Replace kfree_skb() used in icmp_rcv() and icmpv6_rcv() with
kfree_skb_reason().
In order to get the reasons of the skb drops after icmp message handle,
we change the return type of 'handler()' in 'struct icmp_control' from
'bool' to 'enum skb_drop_reason'. This may change its original
intention, as 'false' means failure, but 'SKB_NOT_DROPPED_YET' means
success now. Therefore, all 'handler' and the call of them need to be
handled. Following 'handler' functions are involved:
icmp_unreach()
icmp_redirect()
icmp_echo()
icmp_timestamp()
icmp_discard()
And following new drop reasons are added:
SKB_DROP_REASON_ICMP_CSUM
SKB_DROP_REASON_INVALID_PROTO
The reason 'INVALID_PROTO' is introduced for the case that the packet
doesn't follow rfc 1122 and is dropped. This is not a common case, and
I believe we can locate the problem from the data in the packet. For now,
this 'INVALID_PROTO' is used for the icmp broadcasts with wrong types.
Maybe there should be a document file for these reasons. For example,
list all the case that causes the 'UNHANDLED_PROTO' and 'INVALID_PROTO'
drop reason. Therefore, users can locate their problems according to the
document.

In order to report the reasons of skb drops in 'sock_queue_rcv_skb()',
introduce the function 'sock_queue_rcv_skb_reason()'.
As the return value of 'sock_queue_rcv_skb()' is used as the error code,
we can't make it as drop reason and have to pass extra output argument.
'sock_queue_rcv_skb()' is used in many places, so we can't change it
directly.
Introduce the new function 'sock_queue_rcv_skb_reason()' and make
'sock_queue_rcv_skb()' an inline call to it.

The maximum message size that can be send is bigger than
the maximum site that skb_page_frag_refill can allocate.
So it is possible to write beyond the allocated buffer.
Fix this by doing a fallback to COW in that case.

For now, 'BPF_SOCK_OPS_STATE_CB' of sock_ops can be used to monitor
the state change of TCP sock. However, once tcp sock change to timewait
sock, 'TCP_CLOSE' event will be passed to the eBPF program, and it's
hard to capture the finish of a TCP connect.
Add 'BPF_CGROUP_TWSK_CLOSE', which will be called when timewait sock
close.

The return value of BPF_CGROUP_RUN_PROG_INET{4,6}_POST_BIND() in
__inet_bind() is not handled properly. While the return value
is non-zero, it will set inet_saddr and inet_rcv_saddr to 0 and
exit:

Let's take UDP for example and see what will happen. For UDP
socket, it will be added to 'udp_prot.h.udp_table->hash' and
'udp_prot.h.udp_table->hash2' after the sk->sk_prot->get_port()
called success. If 'inet->inet_rcv_saddr' is specified here,
then 'sk' will be in the 'hslot2' of 'hash2' that it don't belong
to (because inet_saddr is changed to 0), and UDP packet received
will not be passed to this sock. If 'inet->inet_rcv_saddr' is not
specified here, the sock will work fine, as it can receive packet
properly, which is wired, as the 'bind()' is already failed.
To undo the get_port() operation, introduce the 'put_port' field
for 'struct proto'. For TCP proto, it is inet_put_port(); For UDP
proto, it is udp_lib_unhash(); For icmp proto, it is
ping_unhash().
Therefore, after sys_bind() fail caused by
BPF_CGROUP_RUN_PROG_INET4_POST_BIND(), it will be unbinded, which
means that it can try to be binded to another port.

With its use in BPF, the cookie generator can be called very frequently
in particular when used out of cgroup v2 hooks (e.g. connect / sendmsg)
and attached to the root cgroup, for example, when used in v1/v2 mixed
environments. In particular, when there's a high churn on sockets in the
system there can be many parallel requests to the bpf_get_socket_cookie()
and bpf_get_netns_cookie() helpers which then cause contention on the
atomic counter.
As similarly done in f991bd2e1421 ("fs: introduce a per-cpu last_ino
allocator"), add a small helper library that both can use for the 64 bit
counters. Given this can be called from different contexts, we also need
to deal with potential nested calls even though in practice they are
considered extremely rare. One idea as suggested by Eric Dumazet was
to use a reverse counter for this situation since we don't expect 64 bit
overflows anyways; that way, we can avoid bigger gaps in the 64 bit
counter space compared to just batch-wise increase. Even on machines
with small number of cores (e.g. 4) the cookie generation shrinks from
min/max/med/avg (ns) of 22/50/40/38.9 down to 10/35/14/17.3 when run
in parallel from multiple CPUs.
