An application can provide an EventEngine factory function that allows
gRPC internals to create EventEngines as needed. This factory would be
used when no EventEngine is provided for some given channel or server,
and where an EventEngine otherwise could not be provided by the
application. Note that there currently is no API to provide an
EventEngine per channel or per server.
I've also deleted some previous iterations on global EventEngine and
EventEngine factory ideas. This new code lives in a public API, and
coexists with iomgr instead of being isolated to an EventEngine-specific
iomgr implementation.

This enforces entire script to exit with error if any of the
pre-install command fails. The error exit marks the pod install
as failure and therefore prompting user's immediate attention.
Previoulsy pre-install script might siliently fail partially and
left corrupted cocoapod cahce which causes a number of build issues
during version upgrade

Motivation: In debug builds, `DebugOnlyTraceFlag`s are hard-coded to be
disabled. This results in unreachable code paths that the compiler can
detect, which prevent us from enabling `-Wunreachable-code-aggressive`
on the builds.
This work aims to reduce the number of places that switch on
`trace_flag.enabled`.
* Implement type safety for TLS
This is mostly free when compiler support is available, but requires
careful templating when implemented using pthread.
Significantly slimmed the tls.h interface; it now only defines the "TLS
keyword" for each supported compiler, delegating enforcement of correct
usage (i.e. must be static) to the compiler itself.
Implemented implicit conversion for the pthread wrapper so it can be
used (mostly) the same as native support. Notable exception to this is
that static_cast<void*> is needed when printing a pointer stored in TLS
as %p.

HTTP2 headers are sent in (potentially) many frames, but all must be
sent sequentially with no traffic intervening.
This was not clear when I wrote the HPACK parser, and still indeed quite

Now that matter is well settled (years ago!) take advantage of the fact
by delaying parsing until all bytes are available.
A future change will leverage this to avoid having to store and verify
partial parse state, completely eliminating indirect calls within the

This code adds an iomgr implementation that's backed by an EventEngine. This uses the EventEngine API alone, and separate work will introduce an EventEngine prototype to plug into it.
See also drfloob#1: @nicolasnoble has a pull request against this branch, implementing the libuv-based EventEngine. One goal here is to implement the iomgr code such that it can be merged independently without affecting normal builds.
This implementation can be built using bazel build --cxxopt='-DGRPC_USE_EVENT_ENGINE' :all

More generic configuration system is introduced in order to i) unify the
way how modules access the configurations instead of using low-level
get/setenv functions and ii) enable the customization for where configuration

GRPC_NOT_USE_SYSTEM_SSL_ROOTS
alignment options (for cache-alignment).
We shrink by:
1) Removing an unnecessary zone pointer.
2) Replacing gpr_mu (40 bytes when using pthread_mutex_t) with
std::atomic_flag.
We also header-inline the fastpath alloc (ie. when not doing a zone
alloc) and move the malloc() for a zone alloc outside of the mutex
critical zone, which allows us to replace the mutex with a spinlock.
We also cache-align created arenas.
Introduce RAII wrappers in the grpc::internal and grpc_core
namespaces, and use them in place of std::mutex and
std::condition_variable.
Note that, since std::mutex is also used by the public
C++ headers we cannot introduce these wrappers in grpc_core.
Also, note that in grpcpp we cannot use gRPC core and vice versa.
So we had to duplicate the code, once using core_codegen_interface
and once using direct calls.
Retire the old atomic_with_atm.h and atomic_with_std.h as they are not
needed anymore.
Introduce helper methods which call GPR_ATM_INC_ADD_THEN and
GPR_ATM_INC_CAS_THEN, and use them everywhere.
Also introduce AtomicIncrementIfNonzero, originally authored by
vjpai@. This is going to be used for completion queues.
grpc_handshake is renamed to GrpcHandshake, using C++ class definitions
instead of C-style vtable classes. Update callers to use new interfaces.
We use RefCountedPtr to simplify reference tracking.
