Olly Betts d45884bab5 [php] Add throws typemaps for string* + const string* 2023-04-24 12:18:52 +12:00
Olly Betts 6cd19ba926 [php] Support INPUT,INOUT,OUTPUT for std::string&
By default SWIG/PHP wraps std::string& as a pass-by-reference PHP
string parameter, but sometimes such a parameter is only for input
or only for output, so add support for the named typemaps that other
target languages support.

Olly Betts 1707d6b89b [PHP] Fix cleanup code handling issues

[php] Generate PHP type declarations
We now automatically generate PHP type declarations for PHP >= 8.0.

The generated code still compiles with PHP 7.x but without type declarations.

Olly Betts 50426aae20 Make PHP directors work more like other languages
A PHP exception now gets translated to a C++ exception to skips over C++
code to get back to PHP, avoiding the need to gate every directorout
typemap on EG(exception).

Olly Betts 1169874f59 [PHP] Add support for PHP7.
PHP5's C extension API has changed substantially so you need to use
-php7 to specify you want PHP7 compatible wrappers.

Olly Betts cecd89f66f [PHP] The usage of $input in PHP directorout typemaps has been
changed to be consistent with other languages. The typemaps
provided by SWIG have been updated accordingly, but if you
have written your own directorout typemaps, you'll need to
update $input to &$input (or make equivalent changes).

Olly Betts 1392a6e497 [PHP] When using %throws or %catches, SWIG-generated PHP5 wrappers
now throw PHP Exception objects instead of giving a PHP error of
type E_ERROR.

This change shouldn't cause incompatibility issues, since you can't
set an error handler for E_ERROR, so previously PHP would just exit
which also happens for unhandled exceptions. The benefit is you can
now catch them if you want to.

Fixes SF#2545578 and SF#2955522.

Olly Betts ed98187e3b Tidy up typemaps, combining variants with the same code.
Use const_cast to remove const-ness from const char * for stupid PHP API in
%throws typemap.

Olly Betts 7dfd9aae31 WARN_* constants are user visible, so keep existing WARN_PHP4_* for
backward compatibility, but add preferred forms WARN_PHP_* and use
these ourselves.

Rename Lib/php4 to Lib/php, Source/Modules/php4.cxx to Source/Modules/php.cxx.

Add typemaps for const reference so Examples/test-suite/apply_signed_char.i
works.
